Affiliate product feeds for publishers
In this article we’ll explore what live affiliate product feeds are, how you create an affiliate product feed for a publisher and why it’s so important to keep your product information as up to date as possible.
What are live affiliate product feeds?
Live affiliate product feeds are exactly what their name suggests: a live feed of your products on your eCommerce store which updates whenever the price or availability change of any product.Β They are the lifeblood of the affiliate industry for publishers, allowing them to create price comparison widgets that show the best price, availability and where a consumer can purchase a product – automatically, without any human interaction.
A few examples of what how publishers output these product feeds are below. If you click each image, you’ll see a live example of each article, too.
These live affiliate product feeds are also great for retailers. Not only do retailers get to associate themselves with these publishers without having to build a relationship with them, you can change the price on your website and you’ll automatically feature on the relevant product widget within an hour.Β
What do live affiliate product feeds consist of?
Live affiliate product feeds are genuinely incredibly simple. They consist of all the product data you have for a product and we, as the affiliate platform, move the columns (headers) to match our preference and rewrite the URL to be an affiliate link.
An example of what a live affiliate product feeds consist of is available via the link below.
Please be aware that we do not accept Google Sheets or static files such as Excel spreadsheets as product feeds. The below is just an example of what is required within a feed. Feeds must be live and you must provide us a URL to that feed.
The requirements for what a feed needs to consist of to be accepted by us are below:
- Product name
- MPN
- Make
- RRP
- Sale price
- Currency
- Image URL
- UPC
- EAN
- ASIN
- In stock
- URL
If you do not have the UPC/EAN, then your feed will automatically be rejected by us. The UPC/EAN is how the publisher matches multiple products together and provides the bestΒ
