Frequently asked questions about Avelon eCommerce integrations
What data does Avelon use to attribute sales?
Data privacy is at the forefront of what we do, and as such, the amount of data we collect is minimal and non-invasive. We use a mixture of hashed and encrypted first-party cookies to track clickID’s and userID’s, which are specific to the user but outside of Avelon’s servers, are completely meaningless. We never collect consumer names, shipping addresses, mobile numbers etc, unlike other platforms.
Do your plug-ins effect site speed?
No, our plug-in does not effect site speed. Our plug-in simply injects a script, which runs server side, i.e ‘off site’ to recognise if a cookie has been dropped on the user or not. We do not require thousands of lines of script on each page or at checkout and use a POST API call (also provided through the application) to send us data when a checkout has been completed.
Do I have to use a plug-in?
Yes, you must use the plug-in to work with Avelon. If you don’t use one of our plug-ins, we have no way to track your sales. We run a plug-in checker every 20-minutes on all plug-ins to detect any fraudulent activities from brands and retailers. If you would prefer to install the plug-in through downloading it as a .zip file and uploading it yourself, we can also provide the code.
Can you integrate through a pixel?
Yes, you can integrate through our web pixel. Once you onboard, you’ll receive the code required to input into your pixel and we’ll send all the documentation on how to do this.
How long does integration take?
With native applications across Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce and CraftCMS, you can be ready to go in just a few minutes. If you use a custom site, it can range from 30-minutes to a few hours of development time.
Do your plug-ins also track discount codes?
Yes, the Avelon plug-in does track discount codes that have been assigned to affiliates in the system. A discount code must be assigned to an affiliate, otherwise our system will not recognise the discount code and dispose of the sale data.
