The onboarding checklist

Just getting started? Follow this step-by-step checklist to ensure you’re firing on all cylinders. Before you gain access to our platform, you’ll have filled out all the onboarding questions and been provided logins to the system. You will have also been sent your billing overview and integration, so once this is set up, you’ll be ready to follow the below steps.

If you haven’t completed billing or integration, please contact one of the Avelon team. You can find our integration docs here.

Integrate your website with Avelon

Before you get started with inviting athletes, tracking sales and taking advantage of our automated relationships with publishers – you need to integrate your website with Avelon. Luckily, we’ve compiled step-by-step guides for every eCommerce platform, including; Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, CraftCMS, Citrus Lime, Push Retail and even custom websites.

To get started with your integration, just visit the integration hub below.

Step 1: Complete your profile

Add a descriptive bio to your profile, then terms & conditions and adjust your commission rate. Adding a descriptive bio allows affiliates to learn a bit more about your brand before applying or accepting your invite. Terms & conditions cover you and set your rules of engagement. Adjusting your commission rate at a program level means everyone will see that commission rate.

How an affiliate sees retailer profiles

You can do all of this by going to Settings and scrolling through the options. Once you’ve added all the necessary info, click Save all changes at the top of the page and move onto step three.

Step 2: Ensure your product feeds are up to date

Product feeds are the lifeblood between publishers and brands. They allow publishers to search and hyperlink products with 100% accuracy via EAN/UPC/GTIN numbers provided through product feeds – so you need to ensure your products have them available. You can do this easily through your Shopify, WooCommerce or any eCommerce CMS products on your backend, so we recommend spending some time doing this.

Product feeds are automatically generated by us on your behalf, so we work with the data that’s available on your site. 18.2% of all affiliate sales are through publisher product feeds, so you’re missing out if you don’t get this right.

Step 3: Set up your Branded Sign Up page

How will affiliates/publishers know that you’re part of an affiliate platform unless you tell them? Adding a page in your footer and calling it Affiliates/Ambassadors is a great start – as it indicates to potential partners that you’re open to collaboration. A great example of this Cold Bath Brew Co‘s brand ambassador page.

You can set up a page like this and link to your Branded Sign Up page, which is available to you via My Affiliates > Branded Sign Up.

Avelon will also email all affiliates every Monday at midday to notify them of any new brands joining the platform.

Step 4: Start inviting affiliates to your program

Start inviting affiliates and publishers to your program. Collaboration and relationship building is the name of the game with affiliate marketing, so we recommend reaching out and chatting with affiliates via the inbox feature, or inviting your own affiliates to your program via the Invitations feature.

Every affiliate is different, for example, publishers may not require any product to write a review, but new affiliates who do not have your product may require some product to create content. It’s all down to them.

Strike up a conversation, outline your intentions and go from there. Simple.

Step 5: Accepting affiliate applications

Affiliates will apply to be part of your program and you’ll need to either accept or deny these applications. The below video will explain how to do this.
