Commission hierarchy

It’s important to understand the hierarchy of commissions and how commissions interact with each other. The hierarchy of commissions are outlined below:

Level 1: Default commission. Default commission is the commission that your profile displays to all affiliates. When you accept or invite an affiliate to your profile, this is the commission the affiliate will receive, unless you change their commission upon acceptance or at the invite stage. This is the lowest level in the hierarchy and can be overridden by all other commission factors. Commission can be either a percentage or a fixed amount.

Level 2: Affiliate level commission. Affiliate level commission is where you can set a specific commission for a specific affiliate. This overrides the default commission on that specific affiliate only. They will receive the affiliate level commission instead of the default commission.

Level 3: Category level commission. Category level commission allows you to set a commission for an entire category. This overrides both Default and Affiliate level commission.

Level 4: Product level commission. Product level commission, or SKU level commission, is where you can set a commission for a specific product. Product level commission overrides both Affiliate and Default commissions and is across every single affiliate for that specific product.

How to set an affiliate specific commission

There are two ways to set affiliate specific commission. The first way is the most simple.
  1. Go to My Affiliates
  2. Find the affiliate you like by searching for their name in the Search Affiliate box
  3. Click the % set commission button (yellow). This will take you to their profile
  4. Under Agreement, you’ll find their commission agreement. Enter the desired commission into the Commission % box and press Update
Once you press update, the affiliate will be notified of this change by email immediately. We’re transparent with our Revenue Share with affiliates and show the exact amount the affiliate will receive next to the commission % box. You can also adjust an affiliates commission on specific products. This is outlined in the next section.

How to set an affiliate specific commission on a specific product

We recommend doing this if you would like to alter commission for specific products for a specific affiliate, i.e if you want an affiliate to promote a specific product and have agreed to offer them a higher commission rate on that product.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll down to Commission Table and click Download Template
  3. Open the downloaded template
  4. Enter the affiliate_id in the affiliate_id column
  5. Enter the product_id in the product_id column
  6. Enter the commission_percent in the commission_percent column
  7. Once you’re happy, just download the template again and re-upload the sheet back into the upload box
  8. The system will notify you of any errors, or if everything is properly formatted, it will notify you that it has accepted your upload
If there are any problems with your upload, please notify your account manager who can assess the template and check for any errors manually. Please be aware: the sheet does not accept symbols so please do not add % into the sheet, as we add that manually. An example of a correctly formatted commission table sheet is below:

How to find the affiliate_id

To find the affiliate_id, just go to the affiliates profile. If the affiliate has been accepted into your program, you will be able to see their affiliate_id in the Affiliate ID box. Click the clipboard to copy the code.

Please be aware that if the affiliate is not accepted into your program, you will not be able to find their Affiliate ID or adjust their commission percentage.
