Sending one-off emails to approved affiliates

You can sending one-off emails to affiliates in the same way you send one-off, marketing emails to your customers. These one-off emails are ideal for updating affiliates on changes to your program, notifying them of deals and sales or even just to reach out and build relationships with them.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to create a one-off email to your affiliates through our Klaviyo integration.

Syntax for custom properties for one-off emails
The syntax for each custom property is different to the syntax for event based properties. Event based properties are for specific events, i.e updating affiliate level commissions, creating a new promo code or even changing an affiliates CPC rate.

If you’d prefer to use the Klaviyo UI to select the custom parameter, you can search for each custom parameter when you’re designing your email. Simply click the Personalisation button and select Custom from the dropdown.
All the custom parameters available in custom parameters will appear and you can insert them into the email.
Setting up a one-off campaign
1. Click Campaigns on menu and then Create campaign
2. Name your email and select Email as the Type
3. Select Avelon Affiliates from the dropdown. This list would have been created for you when you installed the Klaviyo integration with Avelon.
4. Turn off Smart Sending. If you keep this on, there’s a high-probability your affiliates won’t receive the email, especially if you already have workflows set up for custom emails
5. Press Next and continue to design your email to your affiliates as you usually would
Testing and troubleshooting
We highly recommend testing each custom parameter and its validity through the Preview & Test function on Klaviyo. Some affiliates may not have specific information, i.e if you don’t assign them a promo code then the promo code syntax will appear blank. An example of this is below:
