System Updates: New Payout Threshold & Anti-Fraud Click Software: V.2.12 Release Notes

The latest updates from the world of Avelon. Some interesting new releases, with minimum payout thresholds and a major release for our Anti-Fraud Click Software (AFCS).

Payout Thresholds

We've had some pretty hilarious emails from affiliates, with screenshots showing that they've received £0.07 into their bank account. Well, we've decided that instead of transferring every penny every affiliate makes, we've put a £30.00 minimum payout threshold onto everyones accounts.

This £30.00 minimum is solely to reduce the load on our program (we promise it's not because we want to keep your money) and the payout date will still be on the first day of every month.

If you'd like to request payment earlier than the first of the month, or request funds before you hit the minimum threshold, just drop us an email to hello@avelonetwork.com with your registered email address.

Please be aware: we charge a 2.5% total commission fee for early payment requests.

Anti-Fraud Click Software: V.2.12 Release

Driving link clicks to a brand's product page can help them better understand their audience, where they come from and helps track conversion rates, and rightly so, affiliates should be rewarded for their efforts. But, how can we tell which clicks are real, which clicks are those pesky bots that scour the internet and how do we ensure brands aren’t paying out more than they should be?

Avelon developed its own anti-fraud click software (AFCS) when our CPC program was launched in November 2022, which collects data on each click through an Avelon link, named a Click Log.

This program (AFCS) runs a series of complex artificial intelligence models that detects a wide range of suspicious activity across the internet. If it suspects fraudulent activity, such as one user clicking a link multiple times, an email provider pre-loading URLs upon receipt or even too many clicks within a single user chain, it either applies de-duplication or submits the click log for manual review.

What happens when an affiliates click logs are flagged?

For simple outcome such as a user clicking a link twice by accident, a bot loading links to ensure their validity or even another program such as Outlook, WhatsApp or META preloading the URL destination (you know when you paste a URL into Facebook and it gives a preview), the system will deduplicate the click to ensure brands don’t pay for non-compliant clicks.

However, if there are multiple clicks coming from the same IP address within a certain time frame, the same location of a click multiple times or the affiliates click logs are flagged multiple times, the developers are notified and a manual review process comes into place.

What data can Avelon developers see in the click logs?

Avelon’s developers can see 60+ unique identifiers of each click user, but the main parameters we look at are:

  • Source of the clicks (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, SnapChat, TikTok etc)
  • User IP address
  • URL preload vs manual load on user server
  • IP address verification module
  • Click location
  • Time of click
  • Number of clicks per user

What happens in the manual review process?

The manual review process is simple(ish). Each link click is investigated with AFCS running background processes on previous infringements, and our developers will add non-compliant sources into the program for future reference. The more manual reviews we undertake, the smarter AFCS becomes at recognising and automatically de-duplicating these clicks.

If our investigation concludes with the affiliate knowingly posting links on spam sites, or developing programs that automatically click on links to drive CPC revenue, the affiliate will be suspended from Avelon Network with immediate effect.

The number of clicks on my Dashboard have reduced at the end of the month. Why is that?

AFCS automatically de-duplicates clicks throughout the month and manual reviews take place at the end of the month. If you believe some of the de-duplicated clicks should not have been removed, or you’d like to understand where your non-compliant clicks have come from, please contact us directly on hello@avelonetwork.com.
